Remember your journey

Your journey deserves to be celebrated.

The concept imagined every Checkpoint as a little celebration of a moment in your life.

A tap could stamp a moment into your passport, with the time and place. Stamp by stamp, it could grow into a Journey: a map of the places you remember.

Most maps show you where to go. Minimap imagined a way to remember where you’ve been.

With your friends

Add friends, and explore the world together.

The idea: see the places friends choose to share, from their usual café to the park they love.

The concept explored ways to share a moment and discover when friends might be nearby.

Talk to the world

Leave a Note anywhere on the map.

The concept imagined leaving a Note in your neighbourhood, your city, or the other side of the world: a question, a tip, or a review.

A little message on the map for someone to find.

Scan for context

Know what’s up, without being there.

The idea was to scan a place and see its story: what people ate, what they thought, and what happened.

The past and the present, side by side. And from there, maybe, what you do next.

Socialising made easy

Feeling social? Someone nearby might feel the same.

Minimap explored making it a little easier to say hi and find a connection nearby.

A public check-in could signal that someone was open to meeting.

The concept imagined that sharing would end after 24 hours, or sooner if someone chose to stop.

Design principles

The ideas behind Minimap.

  1. 01

    Your tap.

The concept began with choosing what to save.

  2. 02

    Yours first.

Checkpoints were imagined as private by default, with sharing left to you.

  3. 03

    Fair for all.

The idea was to show newer posts first and give everyone a chance to be seen.

  4. 04

    Here and now.

Public Notes were imagined to leave the map after 24 hours.

  5. 05

    Your spot, kept.

Nearby was designed around protecting a person’s precise location.

  6. 06

    Your call.

The concept included controls to block or report people and manage information.
